A national meeting for all of the university's communication departments was held in the university's branch in Guayaquil in order to discuss the Communicational Plan (Plan Comunicacional para el nuevo año de acuerdo a lo establecido en el objetivo estratégico 5.4 de la Planificación Institucional 2017) for this new year according to what is stated in strategic objective 5.4 of the 2017 Institutional Plan.

The meeting was attended by Luis Alvarez, director of communication and culture; Andrea De Santis, web editor; Blas Garzón and Cesar Andrade, directors of communication and culture in Cuenca and Guayaquil, respectively.

In the meeting they presented the results of the study titled "A snapshot of the UPS brand", study that was conducted in February and July 2016 by the Maruri Publicidad Company. This study of the internal and external communication of UPS was useful to learn about the level of satisfaction of the members of the university community, especially students. Some other priority groups for UPS were also consulted, such as graduates, students from other universities and high school students from Cuenca, Guayaquil and Quito. This study demonstrates the social commitment the university has with the community.

Three aspects were considered for the study: institutional image, knowledge and acceptance of the proposal, and organizational communication. This study, which was approved by the university's officials, has enabled us to determine the strengths and the weaknesses of the institution and come up with a series of actions that will benefit the image of our higher education institution.

Through quality education and the university's commitment to educate excellent professionals, UPS manages to show society its values, thus demonstrating the work and the effort of officials, professors and workers to make the university better.

Students from the university's three branch campuses feel very pleased to study at UPS, they recognized that some differentiating elements were the university's programs, technology, research and because it focuses on human and social education. Some of the main values are: honesty, knowledge, technical skills, kindness, team work, leadership, proactivity, and others

Some of the attributes students identified were: excellent academic level, good teaching, highly qualified and well trained professors, having a wide range of academic options in different fields. "Every time I think about UPS, I think it has met all my expectations, academically and humanly, no doubt it was a great choice", said Kenya Carbo, student in Guayaquil.

On another note, the communicational work at UPS has also been consolidated in the virtual field. According to ALEXA.COM, a company from Amazon.com which analyzes web traffic, in February 2017 the UPS website ranks 115 out of the 500 most visited web sites in Ecuador.

There will be campaigns in order to promote salesian values and develop them among all members of the university community.

UPS thanks its students for trusting its educational system and it is committed to continue working to have quality education in its three branch campuses, Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca.

"The communicational plan is very important since it considers several aspects such as visibilization of UPS and mainly make the university's services known about", said Luis Alvarez Rodas, director of communication and culture at UPS.
