The communication major presented the results from its community involvement projects

The University's social communication major in Guayaquil held the 1st meeting to discuss ts community involvement projects. The aim was to inform the university community about the results of students' and professors' social work. 

The meeting was presided by the university's vice president in Guayaquil, Andres Bayolo, Ángela Flores, academic coordinator, Wendy Luna, director of community involvement, Katiuska Flores, director of the social communication major and professors Ingrid Fiallos and Carlos Gavilondo.

Professors presented the following projects:

•    Biblioteca El Principito
•    Mi historia, nuestras historias
•    Literatura en movimiento 3
•    Mi primer periódico
•    La comunicación a través de la lectoescritura creativa con las personas privadas de su libertad en el CDP de Guayaquil 
•    Mini escuela de comunicación para los emprendedores del programa  
•    Emprende Flom de la Fundación Leonidas Ortega Moreira de Guayaquil 
•    Kairos I y II 
•    Acceso a la cultura de los pobladores del barrio Cuba mediante la difusión de obras clásicas de la cinematografía ecuatoriana

 "This is an area that creates opportunities for future projects in the university", said Flores.

For Dennis Chang, the creation of audiovisual encourages learning and development of skills related to the use of production tools, as in the case of Social Communication major. "When you hear about the projects, as well as the experiences of students and teachers, I cannot help but get excited and be part of these processes," said Andres Bayolo.

Flores explained that during several semesters they have organized activities related to the university's social responsibility and commitment to vulnerable sectors in Guayaquil. "We have had the expected results, I believe professors', students' and officials' commitment is still strong", he said. 

On the other hand, this major is currently preparing "Communication Week" where students will present the main activities it carries out, the results of the teaching-learning process and the overall aim which is to encourage students' participation.
