On July 21st, 253 students from Universidad Politecnica Salesiana obtained their university degree. There were two ceremonies, one in the morning for pedagogy, applied anthropology, bilingual education, biotechnology and accounting, and another in the afternoon for business, communication and psychology students.

The welcome speech was given by Edgar Tello. During his speech, UPS president Javier Herrán talked about the vocation for service and the ability UPS professionals have to change things thanks to their knowledge. "Do not forget to have empathy, that ability to connect knowledge with the heart, in order to grow as a person and transform society", he said.

The Salesian Inspector and Chancellor, Father Jorge Molina, asked professionals to always keep their vocation of service in their hearts, to seek the truth and be good Christians and honest citizens . "Never forget where you come from, never betray your origins and do not let the values you have learnt during this journey disappear", he said.

In the afternoon's ceremony, Grace Moreano, director of the business administration faculty, was in charge of the opening speech, and the new professionals Elizabeth Yucsi, from accounting and auditing, and Daniela Moreno, from communication, spoke on behalf of their class for having obtained the best grade point averages.

Daniela Moreno told her class "Love what you do, your work, your family, your friends, your failures, because they allow us to learn; let us value what we are, let us honor our words, respect the ideas of others, let us be rebels, let us get rid of stereotypes, let us refuse to be part of violence, moral chains and social barriers that limit us to be happy. Remember, we already were somebody before the degree, this is an academic recognition, let us ensure that this experience helps us be honest people and ethical professionals."
