The National Council for the Equality of people with Disabilities (CONADIS, for its acronym in Spanish) held a training session on disabilities and creating tools that can help students, for UPS professors in Guayaquil. The session was titled "Creating accessible digital resources".

The training session was led by Jimmy Coloma, coordinator of CONADIS. The participants were professors from the computer engineering major, members of the free software group (Grupo Académico de Software Libre GASOL), volunteers from Apoyo a la Inclusión –ASDI, representatives from the Centro de apoyo para la inclusión CAI, and members of the ICT's for Disabilities Research Group (Grupo de Investigación en Tecnología de Información y Comunicación Asociada a la Discapacidad TICAD).

The topics were:
-    The country's legal regulations regarding inclusion
-    Accessibility for people with disabilities
-    Curricular adaptation
-    Affirmative actions for students with disabilities

For Coloma it is important to talk about inclusion in universities and analyze the support that is created in academia. "In UPS there are professors who are working on very interesting proposals in the field of inclusion", he said.

He also asked people to break paradigms related to disabilities, to focus on the person rather than on the disability, on the people who are part of our society.

"I think these activities are very enriching because we learn new things and in this case we become more aware of disabilities", said UPS professor Alice Naranjo.
