The IEEE student branch from Universidad Politécnica Salesiana in Cuenca, which is made up by students majoring in electric engineering, electronic engineering, computer engineering, and mechatronics, celebrated IEEE Day in the university. During this month IEEE branches around the world hold commemorative events. In Cuenca, students presented projects, held conferences and organized competitions for visitors.

The first IEEE day was held in 1884, when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share their ideas. In recent years a number of institutions around the world have developed engineering-related events, that's why the Student Branch organized this commemorative celebration with the topic "Using technology for a better tomorrow".

IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization. It works on the advancement of technology for the benefit of humanity and its members form a global community of innovation through its publications, conferences, standards and professional and educational activities.

The event was organized by representatives of the different majors that make up the branch, its objective was sharing information and expertise with colleagues and students. The event organizers wanted to facilitate interaction, cooperation and knowledge transfer between students, teachers and researchers whether or not they were members of IEEE. The organizers are volunteers, young professionals, students and staff who worked together to ensure this celebration.
