"Con raices y con antenas" is the new slogan the university's Abya Yala Publishing House will use to open the news section in its new website, which will be officially presented on the 19th of January, in the city of Quito.

Milagros Aguirre, general editor, spoke about the slogan: "raices", or roots in English, because there's a history of over 40 years at the service of indigenous communities, disseminating its history and culture by constantly publishing work, and "antenas" or antennas in English, because it is connected with the world through technology, looking at the future and engaging in things such as e-commerce for books or designing e-books".

The website, www.abyayala.org is at the service of students, professors and authors who are interested in topics such as anthropology, history, indigenous communities and education. People can now access a much friendlier site with a new image and an online library.

The beginnings of this publishing house date back to 1975 when Father Juan Bottasso created the "Mundo Shuar" publishing house which has extended since 1983 through the Abya Yala Cultural Center, the Abya Yala publishing house, the documentation center and the Amazon museum.

The Abya Yala publishing house has the largest corpus of books on indigenous and Afro Ecuadorian communities in Latin America, the corpus includes information and studies about social movements and local communities.

The "El Comercio" newspaper also wrote an article on the Abya Yala Publishing House:
