The university's branch campus in Cuenca inaugurated the 1st Sports Competition for Alumni, where over 400 former students have made up 40 teams to represent several of the university's majors.

All teams attended the opening ceremony which was held in the university coliseum. The ceremony began with a speech from the director of the community involvement department, Edgar Gordillo, who was pleased with the number of people who decided to take part in the first sports competition for alumni. 

UPS president Javier Herran Gomez, officially inaugurated the competition and said he was pleased to see former UPS students attending the ceremony with their children.

Carolina Zuñiga, president of the alumni in Cuenca, was in charge of reading the sports oath to all the participants. There will be soccer, basketball and volleyball; the games will be played on Saturdays in the university. The competition will end on April 22nd.
