The Salesian Group "UPS CHANNEL TV, the students channel", began on May 2011, its aim was to report, in a clear, timely and honest manner, academic, cultural, sports, research and community involvement events within UPS's branch in Guayaquil. However, it soon surpassed its limits when it began covering events in Quito and Cuenca. Now it reports events nationwide.

"Since the beginning of the project, the aim was that the entire university community learn about all the activities in the university", said Cesar Andrade, general director of UPS CHANNEL TV. After four years, UPS CHANNEL TV has over 400 published videos (142 in 2016) on YouTube, it has 1207 subscribers and since it was created, its products have 178,360 views. "We are growing slowly but with firm steps to benefit the dissemination of activities in UPS", said Ronald Alvarez, general producer of this online channel.

UPS CHANNEL TV is currently made up by 60 students from several majors in the university's branch in Guayaquil. According to Andrade, the group is made up by students who want to learn and apply their knowledge in order to disseminate the university's activities.

The achievements of this group is the result of hard and constant work carried out by students who act as producers, cameramen, editors, hosts, reporters and so on. "UPS CHANNEL TV has allowed us to learn about a whole different world, in my case a world besides numbers, and it's something I do with lots of love", said Ginger Aspiazu, who majors in Accounting.
It is worth noting that the members of this group are constantly attending training sessions that keep them updated and provide new knowledge in this field and will therefore prepare them for their professional career. "This is the opportunity we need to grow professionally, it's great that these type of groups are created in the university", said Diego Tanzado, who majors in communication.

The programs produced by UPS CHANNEL TV are: UPS Informa (news), UPS Sport (sports program), La Nota (entertainment), El Investigador Salesiano (scientific research, El Personaje Salesiano (interviews).

"This channel has become a school to educate communication professionals, here they can learn and have hands on practice of the things they learn in class", said karla Balda, coordinator of the group.
