Students from the electrical engineering undergraduate program in the university's branch in Guayaquil visited TermoGas, from the Electric Corporation of Ecuador (CELEC EP) and INATRA, a transformers factory in order to strengthen all the knowledge acquired in the classroom, learn about the different processes of manufacturing transformers and equipment and their contribution to generating electricity for the country.

During their first visit, students learned about the operations of the power plant in Machala, which is the only one in the country that works with natural gas; the gas is extracted by a platform administered by PETROAMAZONAS. In their second visit, they went to INATRA  in the city of Guayaquil to learn about the manufacturing process of transformers.

"These visits allowed us to have some preliminary conversations about the possibility of signing agreements that would allow students to carry out practicums in these companies" said professor Daniel Contreras who was in charge of the visits.

The technical visits allow students to learn about the work carried out by professionals in their field and motivates them improve their academic performance. "This benefits students and gives them a perspective about what their professional life will be like", said professor Gary Ampuño, director of the electrical engineering school in Guayaquil
