On June 17th, the university's pastoral department held the first formative conference on anthropology in the university's branch in Guayaquil in order to give students an opportunity to reflect and analyze their existence. It is also an opportunity for students to meet and learn from each other.

The first conference was attended by 270 students who study industrial engineering and computing; they took part in exhibitions, workshops, panels and forums that were led by Father Juanito Arias and professors Victor Iza and Lisset Martinez.

"When young people are in groups, they are not afraid, they can talk freely and say what they feel and think", said Iza, coordinator of this event.

The main topic of this conference, which was "Man from the university and society", enabled students to work on self-criticism, from a philosophical and theological point of view, about their role in the community regarding their university education.

"These activities allow us to learn more about ourselves and others", said Sergio Moncada, industrial engineering student. Other meetings with other undergraduate programs will be held on June 24th and July 1st.
