UPS Students Tania Aguirre and Rodrigo Suárez from the Electronics Engineering undergraduate program in UPS's branch campus in Quito, , presented the project "Designing a telemetry network for meteorological stations in the Pisque River Basin", which will benefit agricultural producers and livestock farmers from the cantons of Pedro Moncayo and Cayambe.

The implementation of this network will improve irrigation systems, predict the most productive periods with the presence of rainfall, and optimize resources and time, by monitoring the Pisque River basin, through a study of accessibility, connectivity and supply of the electricity network.

The monitoring will be done through the irrigation programming system operated by the Geographic Information Systems Laboratory of the university's Continuing Training Center in Cayambe. Thanks to the system, meteorological data will be obtained in real time, such as temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and river precipitation for a better production and quality of the products in the area.
