César Iván Álvarez, a researcher for the Environmental Modeling Research Center (CIMA) and an Environmental Engineering professor at UPS-Quito presented his paper at the XXXIV Inter-American Congress on Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (XXXIV Congreso Interamericano de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ambiental) in Monterrey, Mexico.

His paper titled "The estimating air pollution per PM10 in Quito determined by environmental indicators obtained through satellite images LANDSAT ETM+" shows how municipalities with low budgets can collect information regarding air quality and use it for suitable environmental management. 

The research was conducted within the Masters degree in Environmental Management and the Geoportal and Infrastructure research projects carried out by CIMA.
