The applicability of affirmative action policies in the university subsystem

The university's branch in Cuenca held a talk and a discussion panel on "The applicability of affirmative action policies in the university subsystem". The aim of the talk was to discuss current topics for the Ecuadorian university system and to particularly analyze the reality of UPS.

The discussion panel was divided into two sessions, in the morning the speaker were Vinicio Ordoñez, UPS professor; Nancy Chumbay, director of the student services department in Cuenca; Santiago Medina, president of the Students Federation (FEUPS); and Patricio Lozano and Paul Garay, students. In the afternoon other students joined the talks: Rafael Tapia, José Sarango and Jorge Galán, vice president of FEUPS.

Nancy Chumbay explained that "In the last few years UPS has invested over $200,000 to improve accessibility and that it is committed to continue promoting activities that develop a culture of affirmative action. All this in order to have more equality and well-being for students" 

This talk was aimed students, especially freshmen, in Cuenca, students with disabilities and Senescyt scholarship holders.
