A course for the efficient use of water

Representatives of the environmental engineering major at UPS, the secretariat for water (SENAGUA for its acronym in Spanish) and the foundation of water protection (FONAG for its acronym in Spanish) held a meeting to award people who participated in the continuing education course titled "School of water", whose aim was to improve people's knowledge  of the use of potable water in vulnerable communities in La Merced, Uyumbicho, Tambillo, La Victoria, Cucupuro and Jatumpungo. 

The methodology of the course included field practices, the 30 participants learned techniques for an efficient management of water systems in communities. The course took place during the months of May and July with a total of 48 hours. 

The meeting was presided by Karina Pazmiño, director of the environmental engineering major; Tania Calle, respresentative of FONAG; Bolivar Beltran, representative of SENAGUA; and Hilario Morocho. 

Beltran thanked the university for its support and said that "water has created disputes worldwide, there are situations of inequality that put people´s lives at risk. This course has encouraged people to improve their use of water".
