The Organization of American States, through its Department of Social Inclusion and the Secretariat for Access to Rights and Equity, granted Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) a recognition in the category "People with Disabilities, Good Practice: Support and Reasonable Adjustments for Students with Disabilities in the Health Emergency due to COVID-19" as part of the Contest of Good Practices of groups in Vulnerable Situations in the Context of COVID-19."

Father Juan Cárdenas Tapia, UPS president, thanked the team of professionals of the Unesco Chair for their work, indicating that they are proof that through actions it is possible to contribute to making this society aware of the need to be fairer, more equitable and inclusive.

He also pointed out that the work must continue and that efforts will not be enough to support the inclusion of people with disabilities. However, the recognition that the University has just received "fills us with hope and It commits us to continue on the path of social responsibility that characterizes us as a Salesian University Community".

María Sol Villagómez, vice president of our branch campus in Quito, highlighted the work of the UNESCO Chair, professors of the Education undergraduate program and the Master's in Special Education, making more and more people interested in educational inclusion and continue work for vulnerable groups in society.

Miriam Gallegos, coordinator of the Inclusive Education Research Group (GIE) in Quito stressed that it is essential to share good practices and stated that in March 2021, the university will present the activities it carries out regarding inclusion.
