Folk dance performed by "Ayawayra" during the "Cultural Wednesday" event
On April 26th, the university's branch campus in Guayaquil held its "Cultural Wednesday" event with the performance of the "Ayawayra" Folk dance group that danced to the rhythm of fandango, vals, pasacalle and paso doble.
These activities are very important because we encourage students to participate in cultural-artistic events and make them learn more about the customs and traditions of Ecuador", said Arturo Campoverde, instructor of the group.
During the event there were performances of typical dance from Otavalo, which is located in the province of Imbabura. "As residents of the neighborhood, we are happy about the events presented by UPS. They strengthen our essence of people from Guayaquil and Ecuadorians", said Miguel Luna, coordinator of the "Cuba" neighborhood.
"We will soon work with community involvement projects thanks to talent of these young dancers, there are many people in the neighborhood who would like to learn these dances", said Luna.
To end the show, the "Ayawayra" group represented the "Cayambeña" fest, which is characterized by colors, strong movements and games; making it a very fun and exciting dance to watch. "We invite the entire university community to be part of this activity which is held on the last Wednesday of every month", said Cesar Andrade, coordinator of the communication and culture department.
The next cultural Wednesday program will take place on May 31st with the performance of the UPS choir.
