The Web Accessibility tool

The National Council of Disabilities and Equality (CONADIS) acknowledged the project titled "Analizador de Accesibilidad Web Ecuatoriano", developed by the Artificial Intelligence and Assistive Technology Research Group (GIIATA), as an official tool to analyze web accessibility. It is the first in Ecuador and one of first ones created in south America.

This tool help assess the fulfilment of web accessibility regulations in Ecuador: "NTE INEN-ISO/IEC 40500 Tecnología de la Información-Directrices de Accesibilidad para el Contenido Web del W3C (WCAG) 2.0". It helps people to know the current status of a web site.

This project, led by Cristian Fernando Timbi Sisalima, provides a system that is able to evaluate web accessibility in Ecuador automatically. The GIIATA research group conducts research on inclusive technologies, ICTs, and disabilities. It has now provided this tool to help institutions provide people with disabilities better web accessibility.
