Drills at UPS-Quito
Drills at UPS-Quito
On December 3rd, UPS-Quito held a drill to train and prepare students, professors and overall staff at the University for a possible eruption of the Cotopaxi volcano.
The Quito Fire Department and the Ecuadorian Red Cross were in charge of monitoring and assessing the activities. The drill was organized by the university's HR department.
The drill was held both in the morning and the afternoon schedule with around 4,000 people. The brigades of the university evacuated and guided everyone in the university to the safe places assigned for these emergencies.
UPS-Quito Vice President Jose Juncosa said that the time it took people to evacuate was acceptable and he thanked everyone for their cooperation. The drills, which lasted around 40 minutes, were then evaluated by the Red Cross and Fire Department.
This week there will also be a drill in Campus Sur.
