Professors and graduates from the mechanics major in our branch campus in Quito donated a threshing machine to the production association in the community of Quinticusig, located in the province of Cotopaxi. The machine allows a production of 60 kg/h. This donation, which greatly benefits the community, focuses on the practical impact of technology on local production. In addition, it shows how collaboration between the university and the community can generate significant and sustainable changes, improving the quality of life of its members and promoting regional economic development.

Erick Lema and Cristian Villamarin, presented the machine to professors Xavier Vaca, William Diaz and Fernando Toapanta. They explained how the machine operates, its design and innovative system, which operates through controlled blows on the pods to release the grain.

Erick Lema shows Antonio Tuitice, from the community, how the machine works. Antonio will be in charge of operating the machine, which is designed to significantly improve the production of lupine in the community. The cooperation between the university and the community will have a positive impact on production processes.

Cristian Villamarin, did a practical demonstration of the threshing machine. He explained the machine separates the grains from the chaff and is very efficient, has a great design and assures the benefits of implementing technology.

Maria Gloria Toapanta, president of the community, a humble, hard-working and entrepreneurial woman, was very thankful. “We are a group of 10 people, men and women; we plant lupine, squash, vegetables, peas, corn, everything the field produces. We work every day. We are grateful for this donation and all the people who have helped us. We have always had to rent machines and it is difficult to transport. This machine will be great help to bring our daily bread to our homes.”

The lupine is planted by Luz María Toapanta, Gladis Toapanta, María Gloria Toapanta, Dolores Ante, Diocelina Angamarca, Georgina Guaita and Delia Guaita. They are women who represent the hard work of agriculture. With their hands and daily effort, they cultivate the land to provide food to their families and the community of Quinticusig. Their dedication and commitment are inspiring examples of how agricultural work strengthens both society and the local economy. In this image, we see the spirit of cooperation that characterizes this group of hard-working and entrepreneurial women, who now have the support of the new threshing machine to improve their production processes.

Professor Xavier Vaca officially presents the machine to Diocelina Angamarca, representative of the association of the community of Quinticusig. With great pride and responsibility, she accepts the machine that will be essential to improve the community's productive processes. She will be in charge of ensuring the good use and conservation of the machine, ensuring that this valuable resource benefits all members of the association and contributes to the sustainable development of the region.

For this community, lupine is a symbol of hard work and dedication, and now it can be processed more efficiently thanks to the new threshing machine donated by students from the mechanics major. The machine not only improves productivity, but also facilitates the workload of farmers, allowing them to dedicate more time and effort to other important tasks. Cooperation between the university and the community demonstrates how innovation can transform lives and enhance local development.
