Tie in the debut of the Carneras soccer team

"Talleres Emanuel" defending against the Carneras UPS team

 

The university's women's soccer team, "Carneras", made their official debut in the Ecuadorian "A" series women's soccer tournament and tied with "Talleres Emanuel" despite controlling most of game and playing well. The game was played in the university's Valeriano Gavinelli "Gavicho" soccer field. 

Carneras did their best to try and score a goal by attacking their opponent. However, the goalkeeper, Shirley Berruz, who plays for the Ecuadorian national team, and the defenders did a very good job at controlling the Salesian team.

In the game's 40th minute, a counter attack led by Ambar Torres allowed Angie Ponce to  score the first goal for "Talleres Emanuel". In the game's 70th minute, Dayana Jumbo scored the game tying goal for "Carneras". During the last minutes of the game the Carneras had a couple of opportunites to score the game winning goal, but missed their chances of scoring.

The Carnera's next game will be in Guayaquil on October 16th at 11am when they face the "Galapagos" team.
