University presidents and representatives of the Ecuadorian Network of Universities and Polytechnic schools for research and postgraduate studies (REDU, for tis acronym Spanish) held a meeting in Universidad Politecnica Salesiana's branch in Quito, which was presided by Roque Moreira Cedeño, President of Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE).

The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the statute proposed by the network, information systems for the management of research and postgraduate studies, the purchase of digital data bases, the organization of congresses, research projects, evaluation of research proposals, and others.

The meeting was attended by several university presidents such as Dr. Fernando Sempértegui (Universidad Central); Dr. Alfonso Algora (Universidad SEK), Dr. Galo Naranjo (Universidad Técnica de Ambato), Franklin Tapia (Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica), Dr. Miguel Naranjo (Universidad Técnica del Norte);l Dr. Pablo Vanegas (Universidad de Cuenca), and José Juncosa, on behalf of UPS President Javier Herrán.

Other attendees were Florinella Muñoz, Jaime Calderón, Alberto Celi and Julia Nieto from Escuela Politécnica Nacional; Walter Mera from Universidad Santiago de Guayaquil; Gonzalo Olmedo from ESPE; Raúl Galarza from CEDIA; Carmen Trujillo, Jorge Carahuay and Katherine Ward from Universidad Técnica del Norte; Alex Remache from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar; Rommel Montúfar, from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador; Carlos Rodríguez from Universidad Técnica de Ambato; María Elena Acosta from IAEN, Gabriel García from Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja; Marco López from UTE and Esteban Pacheco from Universidad de Cuenca
