UPS researchers Nelson Jara Cobos and Fran Reinoso Avecillas, members of the "Simulation, optimization and decision making" research group, presented the results of their research during the 14th International Congress on system dynamics, held in Medillin, Colombia.

Nelson Jara presented the project titled "Assessment of energy savings by use of domestic refrigerators in México", where he explained the project is the study of market behavior of Mexican domestic refrigerators which was done based on the methodology of system dynamics with application of minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) and labeling for domestic refrigerators.

Fran Reinoso presented the paper "Analysis Of Electricity Generation Projects Using Geothermal Energy Sources through the Methodology Of System Dynamics: Ecuador Case". In his presentation he made a review of various feasibility studies for the implementation of energy generation projects using geothermal sources available in Ecuador; using a system dynamics model, which considers technological, economic and environmental aspects.

Both researchers said that the aim of their research is to contribute to the identification of evidence to facilitate decision making and policy-making in the counttry's energy sector .
