A great number of students, professors, administrative staff and people in general participated in the university’s 2024 7km Athletic Competition. The university organizes sports events in order to encourage a healthy lifestyle in the university community. 

Diego Arevalo Vizñay won first place in the general man’s category, followed by Alexander Paez and then Lucas Jimenez Lituma. In the women’s category, Maria Pastuña Alvarado won first place, followed by Janeth Andrade Minga and Gina Ordoñez Illares. 

 
Tatiana Patiño Torres won first place in the UPS woman’s category, Andrea Bermeo won second and third place was for Alicia Siguencia Contreras. In the men’s category, the winner was Hugo Ramón Maldonado, second place was for Marcelo Naranjo Pinos and third place for Luis Romero Tapia. 

Fernando Moscoso, vice president of our branch campus in Cuenca, led the inauguration and then the awards ceremony along with Juan Cardenas Tapia, President of the university. 

 
After the competition, there was the raffle of three bicycles. The winners were Freddy Calle Romero, Carlos Muñoz Sánchez and Nathaly León Tenezaca.
