Café Utopia is an event for informal conversations and is part of the university's community involvement program. People can talk about several topics such as science, social and academic issues in the university.

This time the topic was "Bici-ciudades"; it is about public policies of non-motorized mobility, bicycles and other transportation issues.

The topic was about the use of bicycles as a means of transportation in public areas, its accessibility, implications of infrastructure, environmental and social advantages, and projects aimed at making bicycle riding a part of people´s lives. Erika Tinajero, a member of the "Carishinas en bici" group, explained how her organization encourages women of all ages to ride their bikes. "Bicycle riding is a way of life and there should be road safety education in order to transform transportation in Quito", she said.
