The electronics and automation undergraduate program and the robotics club in our branch campus in Guayaquil held a closing ceremony for the 20 hour continuing education course "Robotronix 2020" which was free of charge for children and teenagers with limited resources.

The aim of the course is that participants learn about technology and science related to robotics by using Lego Mindstorms, an educational platform worldwide with basic elements of robotic theory such as programming actions in an interactive manner and building an integrated system with electro mechanical parts controlled by a computer.

"In today's world, technology is advancing and it is essential that our children are trained and educated in new technologies, in a few years the world will be much more robotic than now, so the university supports young people so they can learn about future technology or engineering and serve society", said Andrés Bayolo, vice president of our campus in Guayaquil.

One of the university's main activities is community engagement. Therefore, over 20 children and teens from Obra Salesiana Santiago Apostol, Unidad Educativa Salesiana Domingo Comín, and the Cuba neighborhood took part in the course.

Victor Huilcapi, director of the electronics and automation undergraduate program said: I thank you for participating and your parents for bringing you here and allowing you to learn about robotics. Participants demonstrated their desire to learn and be better, that with creativity and motivation they are capable of overcoming any obstacle…"

Byron Lima, coordinator of the robotics club and facilitator of the course, sad "UPS-Robotronix has been a new experience for us because of participants' age, but we managed to control that and they learned about robotics"

The electronics and automation undergraduate program will continue to offer continuing education courses free of charge so especially people of limited resources can participate.
