Communication and Interculturality Research Group - GICOI

The Communication and Interculturality Research Group (GICOI for its acronym in Spanish) carries out research with an interdisciplinary nature on the intercultural processes of Ecuador, including audiovisual and hypermedia production.

Throughout history, there have been challenges in the coexistence of different ethnic groups, groups and people. These problems have caused systematic and institutionalized exclusions such as racism, the pejorative view of each ethnic group, etc.

The recognition of others, of different people or nationalities that coexist in a particular territory, enables the consolidation of democratic and liberal values that favor the recognition and integration of various customs and knowledge for the construction of an identity.
