Startup Weekend: entrepreneurship for students

The university's branch campus in Guayaquil held "Startup Weekend", an event for entrepreneurs encouraged by Google for Entrepreneur which seeks to create opportunities for action, innovation and education for the creation of new startups.
 
This event was held simultaneously in several countries, it lasted 54 hours and gave people from several higher education institutions the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and be guided by national and international mentors. 
 
The topics of the event were:
 
- Canvas business model
 
- Leadership
 
- Pitch
 
- Minimum Viable Product
 
- Customer development
 
The topics provided participants the tools needed to solve problems, there were also talks on business, finance, legal topics, development, technology, design, innovation, marketing and sales.
 
"We want the university community to have the opportunity to develop new projects", said Daniel Carabajo, UPS student and the coordinator of the event. 
 
To end the event, students gave a pitch of their ideas; the three best were chosen. Second place was for UPS mechatronics students with their project titled "Machine that generates organic gas through food"
 
"These events are very important to generate innovative proposals that improve current problems", said Melanie Espinoza, UPS student.
