The university's Inclusion Support Center in Guayaquil held an event to commemorate the International Day of Disabled Persons which is celebrated around the world on December 3rd. This celebration has taken place since 1992. The event was supported by Cátedra UNESCO TWIN, Asociacionismo Salesiano de Apoyo a la Inclusión (ASDI), el Grupo Académico de Software (GASOL) and Grupo de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación Asociadas a Discapacidad (TICAD).

The aim of the event was to promote the rights of people with disabilities throughout society and create awareness of these people's situation in political, social, economic and cultural aspects.

The activity brought together students from various institutions such as Unidad Educativa Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Colegio Particular San Benildo La Salle and Fundación Sin Barreras (FUNSIBA). As part of the program, there were artistic presentations: folk dance, capoeira dance and musical interventions by students from the aforementioned institutions.

"With this cultural festival we wanted to show the artistic potential in diverse manifestations of art," said Alice Naranjo, coordinator of the TICAD group.

On the other hand, attendees were informed about the educational equipment and inclusive ICTs of the CAI which are now available to people with disabilities; among them the Víctor Reader Stream, a portable media player for people with visual disabilities, screen readers, braille printers, 3D printers, and devices adapted to facilitate the interaction of people with physical disabilities with ICTs.

"The CAI has been growing not only with the support of authorities, associations and federations of people with disabilities but also of students who contribute from the academy to improve inclusive education, said professor Nelson Jara.
