A post mortem tribute to Salesian priest Jorge Ugalde Paladines

The university paid a post mortem tribute to Salesian priest Jorge Ugalde Paladines for his notable work as the first pro chancellor of our branch campus in Guayaquil.
The ceremony was presided by Raul Alvarez Guale, vice president of our branch campus in Guayaquil, and attended by directors, professors, students, members of the salesian community and family members of Jorge Ugalde; his nephew Lelys Ugalds Velasquez, who is the director of the industrial engineering undergraduate program said: “He always helped people silently, one of his most important works was literacy and that’s why many schools are named after him.”
Raul Alvarez said that one of the auditoriums will be named after Jorge Ugalde as part of the tribute. “He dedicated his life to education in favor of the less privileged and therefore it is an honor for the university to honor him”.
Father Jorge Ugalde died on September 23rd, 2017 at the age of 87 in the community of San Juan Bosco, in Guayaquil, due to a heart attack. He was known as an educator; he was the principal of “Cristobal Colon” high school on several occasions and gained the respect and appreciation of students and parents.
