Workshop on research and writing scientific articles

Last September 11 and 12 UPS-Quito professors attended a workshop on "Research and writing scientific articles" which was organized by the Razón y Fe(Reason and Faith) department. The aim of the workshop was for professors to learn about the tools they can use to write scientific articles.

The speaker was Esteban Inga, MsC, the Electrical Engineering director, a member of the Abya – Yala editing committee, and a reviewer for UPS's Ingenius magazine. He is currently studying a doctorate degree at Universidad Católica de Medellín, Colombia.

These are the topics that were discussed at the workshop:

• Fundamental aspects to write a scientific article. The use of bibliographical data.
• Search techniques in virtual libraries.
• The use of templates for writing scientific articles
• The impact of different science magazines 
• ISI and Scopus databases
• The use of scientific networks such as Scholar Google, Academia Edu; Research Gate, and Orcid to disseminate scientific articles
• Analyze papers written by international researchers through Scholar Google.
• Identify the calling dates for scientific articles for conferences and magazines. 

This workshop was previously held with Electrical engineering professors along with a workshop on Mathematical modeling and simulation led by Enrique Palacios, MsC.
