Our university was the meeting point for the academia and the agricultural industry, it was in charge of holding the talk "Sacha Inchi promising species in the agro industrial productive transformation". The talk was held in Quito and its aim was to consider taking this species as a benchmark for the creation of a sustainable agro industrial development model that respects people and the planet.

Sacha Inchi, is an indigenous oil plant of the Peruvian Amazon, known around the world as the "peanut of the Inca" for its enormous importance during his empire. Its seeds contain one of the most important sources of omega 3, 6 and 9 in the world, more than the so-called blue fish. This oil is of extraordinary quality and is considered an essential fatty acid for life.

The event was attended by academics from various national and international institutions such as: Carlos Nieto from Universidad Central del Ecuador, who presented the topic pharmacognostic potential of unused plant species that could change the country's productive agricultural matrix. María Fernanda Quintero from the Research Department of Universidad Estatal de Bolívar; Carlos Palacio, founder and strategic leader of the Suma Sacha ecosystem and agricultural director of the Cooperativa Sacha Colombia; Marco Gaibor of AgroG2Ecuador, who achieved the conformation of "Sacha Ecuador" thanks to the presence of provincial delegations of Napo, Guayas, Esmeraldas, Manabí, Pastaza, Orellana, Chimborazo, El Oro, Sucumbíos and Pichincha.

"Discussion should be the beginning of a connection between university - industry - farmers so we can see our fields using all their potential for our welfare and our children, turning the dream of living together between people and nature a reality," says Jon Mañay, assistant of Cumandá canton, province of Chimborazo
