In October, Ecuadorians hold several events to commemorate pasillo music, especially its best singer in the genre Julio Jaramillo Laurido. The university's salesian groups, such as the choir, bands, theater and dance groups along with Julio Jaramillo Arroyo and pianist Eduardo Florencia presented a music show in Quito.

The event was organized by students and professors of the salesian groups for several months; Holger Ortega (choir), Johana Franco (contemporary dance), Jorge Sánchez (Ecuadorian dance), Juan Pablo Acosta (theater), Santiago Herrera (music).

The band is made up by students who major in communication and psychology: Jesús Brun, Dennis Ortega and Santiago Dueñas. Some of the songs they played were: "Sombras", "Despedida", "Romance de mi destino", "El Aguacate", "Sendas distintas".

Pasillo is a Latin American music genre that evolved in Ecuador since 1919. They call it pasillo because of the way it is danced to, short and quick steps. The ceremony was attended by university president Javier Herran, university officials, professors, administrative staff and the overall public.
