From the 6th to the 8th of February, the university held the 5th International Congress on Science, Technology and Innovation for Society (CITIS 2019), an academic event that brings together national and international researchers who present their scientific results in mobility, environmental sustainability, information and telecommunications.

The fifth edition of CITIS was dedicated to the university's 25th anniversary; researchers presented engineering projects to support the progress of science, technological development and innovation in Ecuador aimed at creating a fairer and more equitable society. 

There were 8 keynote speeches, 37 presentations, scientific posters, presentation of prototypes created by the university's robotics club and a photo exhibition "France Emotion".

In the closing ceremony, researchers with the best presentations and posters were awarded special recognitions after considering aspects such as originality, theoretical value, quality of writing and impact on society.
