In recent years Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) has become one of the most studied conditions by different scientific fields, from educational to general medicine.

In a talk titled "Autism, characteristics and evaluation" led by Dr. Catalina Lopez, director of the health area in Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar, professors and students from our  branch campus in Cuenca analyzed the global perspectives of autism and learned about the main characteristics, diagnosis and intervention of this condition.

"Autism is an opportunity to learn and work in diversity", said Lopez, who is currently conducting research projects in Ecuador to learn more.

During the talk, educators and family members realized they have a complex and important task. Participants said they would work as an interdisciplinary team to solve problems that may arise.
