Students and professors organized several conferences to celebrate World Telecommunication Day. Jose Juncosa, vice president of our branch campus in Quito, said: "Telecommunications is important for the development of society, it has become essential in technological development, internet and communication"

German Arevalo, director of the telecommunications program, spoke about the progress of the university's laboratories and infrastructure and about new projects for example a laboratory of wireless communications, research groups and a master's degree in telecommunications. 

Diego Benitez, president of IEEE Ecuador and a professor of Universidad San Fransisco de Quito, presented the topic "System based on solid-state sensors to produce real-time images of ferrous objects and magnetic fields in non-destructive tests", whose aim is to quantify, measure and locate bars within structures without overthrowing walls. 

Belen Vallejos, coordinator of the students activities committee IEEE- Ecuador, spoke about the benefits of being part of this international organization. Richard Caliz, from the the National Telecommunications Corporation, presented the topic "Evolution of access systems to triple play" which refer to phone, internet and television services through one network.

Finally, Cristina Ramos, from the Geophysics institute, presented "The role of telecommunications in volcanic monitoring".
