Students and professors from the automotive engineering undergraduate program in Guayaquil held the 1st Automotive Scientific Fair to present the technological advances in sustainable mobility which are currently offered in Ecuador, as well as disseminate the development of environmentally friendly sustainable technologies.

There were several stands where students from different semesters presented their prototypes. "The use of alternative means like a bicycle or just simply not using a vehicle for short distances is a way we can help reduce pollution", said Renato Fierro, director of the automotive engineering program.

During the fair, they presented electric and hybrid vehicles which are part of the environmentally friendly alternatives. Andres Bayolo, vice president of the university's branch campus in Guayaquil, said "the university is committed to all activities which contribute to caring for the environment. This activity will students study sustainable mobility.

The event was attended by students from the following high schools: Cristóbal Colón, Domingo Comín, Teniente Hugo Ortiz and representatives from the following automobile companies: IOKARS (KIA), AUTOHYUN (HYUNDAI), ELECTROBIKE ECUADOR e INTERCAR.

Sustainable mobility focuses on three aspects: social, economic and environment. The automotive engineering program seeks to hold activities that help create awareness of these issues.
