Father Fransisco Sanchez spoke about the beginnings of the university, "UPS is not only the result of a dream, it is the result of the hard work carried out by salesians for more than 100 years. We must learn how to live together and coexist; there is no life without learning, knowledge makes people free because education encourages us to seek for the truth and respect differences".

Pedro Palacios, mayor of Cuenca, congratulated the university and highlighted the work it has done throughout these years by having new undergraduate and postgraduate programs. "You are the creators of higher education, keep up your success for many more years to come".
