The mechanics and electronics engineering undergraduate programs in our branch campus in Cuenca celebrated 25 years of existence. A special ceremony was held in the university theater; it was attended by university officials, professors, students, alumni and special guests.

Luis Garzon, director of the mechanics program, said these 25 years have been full of changes and development in the city of Cuenca and that the university has given young people the opportunity to develop personally and professionally.

Rene Avila and Nelson Jara, professors of both electronics and mechanics, presented a brief history of these two undergraduate programs and how the university started specializing students in industrial mechanics, automotive mechanics and industrial electronics.

The university was first a technological institute which later became the university thanks to the work of Father Luciano Bellini; the university was officially created in 1994 with the faculty of electro mechanics in the city of Cuenca and Human Sciences in the city of Quito. The founding professors and the first graduates were awarded commemorative plaques.

Finally, Luis Tobar, general vice president of the university, thanked everyone who has contributed to the growth of the university. He also highlighted the work of Salesians who have been in the country overs 130 years and have greatly contributed to education. The university now celebrates 25 years of existence.
