Advances in automotive engineering during the 2022 Auto Show

Guayaquil, jueves 29 septiembre 2022

The automotive engineering undergraduate program in our branch campus in Guayaquil took part in the 2022 Auto show; 50 students majoring in automotive engineering presented different automotive systems and explained the high tech laboratories in the university. There were also over 30 brands, a demonstration of hybrid, electric and eco efficient cars.

Renato Fierro, director of the automotive engineering undergraduate program, said this is an opportunity to present our program and the university by showing its technological capacity. “People that have visited our stand learned more about the system of hybrid vehicles, internal shock engines, intelligent lighting systems, vehicle system simulators and more”, he said.

Something that has been mainstream during this fair is people’s worry for the environment and people who are looking for more powerful cars with less consumption.

Ricardo Baquerizo, president of Expoplaza, believes this year the car industry has had a wider variety of cars for different purposes, as well as having academia attend the fair which is important for the development of new models. “Universidad Politecnica Salesiana has been a common exhibitor at this fair, the automotive engineering program has a stand to present its advances and students are very happy to be at one of the most important automotive events in the country”, he said.

“This is the 13th edition of the Auto Show and it shows there is great variety in this sector, the trends in the country point to Asian cars which now have very good market share. The cars have innovative models and are more accessible to people. It has grown quickly in the last 10 years and they are much more environmentally friendly”, said Jaime Cucalon, president of the Ecuadorian Automotive Association.

The electrical engineering undergraduate program was also invited to participate; they spoke about alternative energies such as photovoltaic energies
