Students majoring in biotechnology in our branch campus in Guayaquil attended the course on "Fundamentals of microscopy and contrast techniques". The aim was that students acquire new technological knowledge for their professional development.

The course was attended by 62 students. "These courses are aimed at strengthening the use of new technologies and making our students be on top of these advances in biotechnology", said Jose Luis Ballesteros, director of the biotechnology undergraduate program.

During the training course, students had the opportunity to operate several types of optical research microscopes to perform observations with different contrast techniques in tissue samples, cells, insects, fibers, plant samples, and others. "The course was useful for Biotechnology students so that they can effectively evaluate biotechnological samples with different contrast techniques that allow highlighting characteristics that are not easily observable and obtain important data to carry out research work," Ballesteros said.

The course was led by William Narvaez, Andrés Rivera and Boris Cuesta, specialists from Recor Dental and Quimedic S.A companies.
