The university's information and communication technologies for disabilities research group (TICAD for its acronym in Spanish) with the support from the UNESCO TWIN technologies for inclusive education, held a course on "E-Commerce and finance in a virtual environment" which was aimed at people with disabilities.

The course, led by students from the TICAD research group, enabled people with disabilities or their relatives to learn new applications of ICTs that can help their small businesses or help them create one; the aim is to help people with disabilities have job opportunities.

In the course, participants learned how to use the CANVA platform to create logo for their business, images for social networks and to use for advertising. They also used WordPress to create their online store and advertise their products.

"These courses benefit people with disabilities because they learn about e-commerce and tools that allow to expand their business and reach many other people", said Ruth Alvarado, computer engineering student who is leading this activity.

The course was supported by APADA, AFAA Electronics Corporation, Fundación Margarita Enderton, FUNSIBA, Fundación Ecuador, CAI, RED RAITI.
