In order to educate students on environmental issues and enable them to learn about and apply techniques in their professional life, the university held a seminar - workshop for the Management of a Platform of Environmental Regularization Management (SUIA) ).

This event was attended by 39 students from the Environmental Engineering undergraduate program in Guayaquil. "Students will not only have the theoretical part but also its application, an activity that will allow them to start small jobs in environmental processes," said Carmen Palacios, director of the Environmental Engineering program.

During the workshop, led by Geoconda Galarza Lavayen, representative of the Ministry of Environment, students learned about monitoring methodologies, laboratory for water quality determination, as well as drone management as a tool for gathering environmental information. The following topics were also discussed:

• Current environmental regulations

• Environmental regulation

• Environmental certificates, registrations and licenses

The workshop lasts twelve on campus hours and eight hours of autonomous work, where students will learn to properly manage the SUIA System platform. "These types of activities favor students because they can start working on small environmental prevention work," Galarza said.

"For us, future environmental engineers, this type of activity enhances our education as university students and allows us to learn about tools that facilitate strategies and resources we can use professionally," said Ailyn Abarca, student.
