The first inter high school competition on skills in risk management, organized by the risk and disaster management undergraduate program, was successfully held in our branch campus in Cuenca.

The aim of the event was to create awareness about the need of prevention processes in high schools and make sure people are prepared to apply strategies and management tools in case of an emergency.

In the competition, participants had to overcome several obstacles in the least time possible. Teams had to complete their objectives by choosing the best possible strategy; a demonstration was first carried out by the fire department.

The participating high schools were: Benigno Malo, Militar Abdón Calderón, Técnico Salesiano, La Salle, Daniel Córdova and Santa María de la Esperanza (from Chordeleg). The event was supported by the members of the fire departement, risk management department from the Municipality, the national service of risk management and emergencies and the education district.

UPS president, Javier Herran, congratulated high school students for their participation and preparation for eventual risk situations. 

The final standings were:
