The GiMaT research group presented its results

The university's New Materials and Transformation Processes Research Group (GiMaT for its acronym in Spanish) presented its research results for the 2015 -2019 period. The presentation was done online and attended by university officials, students, professors and guests from ten countries.
The research group has several lines of research such as new materials and innovation in transformation processes with a focus on sustainable development in order to take advantage of renewable resources and agro industrial waste in the region.
Another line of research is the characterization of new materials at a micro and nanoscale; filaments have been made from biodegradable matrices with reinforcements of carbon nano tubes, plant nano fibers for 3D printing and applications. There is also the simulation and modeling of composite materials with which computational mathematical models have been developed, which allow predicting the behavior of new materials. In the development and characterization of biomaterials and bio-protocol materials, surgical guides and internal implants have been developed and applied to patients successfully, as well as in the development of dental scaffolds with bone texture that allows the growth of stem cells.
The presentation was done by Jorge Fajardo, coordinator of the GiMaT research group. He thanked everyone behind all the research, all the existing cooperation between different groups, the public sector, people who have turned to the university looking for advice on different fields of science, and of course students who see research as a real alternative to solve problems in society.
UPS president, Javier Herran, congratulated and praised the work carried out by the group. He encouraged them and said that research represents the university's success.
Juan Pablo Salgado, Head of Research, said the research model at the university focuses on people, not only on writing papers, patents or results. We work on students' personal and professional growth and development.
The event ended with a brief conference "New tendencies on ecological polymers" led by Octavio Fenollar Gimeno from Universidad Politecnica de Valencia.
