Universidad Politecnica Salesiana (UPS) has been accredited by VMware IT Academy, world leader in technological solutions in virtualization. Professors and students will have access to training sessions, certification courses and online courses. To be accredited, the institution must have virtualization infrastructure, efficient management of resources and trained staff to use the platform.

UPS is the first active academy in the country and this accreditation is due to the infrastructure of the Data Center of Computer engineering undergraduate program. "This infrastructure has allowed classes to be innovative by using virtual machines in the VMware platform," explained Patsy Prieto, director of the undergraduate program in Quito.

The Data Center is used by research groups and students working on graduation projects. "The configuration and management of these platforms are essential nowadays because they allow students to create development environments to test algorithms, computer applications and even networks simulating real environments," said Prieto.

The Computing undergraduate program will have a training course on technological infrastructure management and virtualization aimed at professors form Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil, which will include knowledge of virtualization, management of the VMware platform IT Academy, administration of existing resources, and other topics.
