Professor Ruben Bracho, director of the music group in our branch campus in Quito, spoke about the relationship between physics and sound; the talk was broadcast live through facebook @Cultura UPS.

"Physics allows us to understand the world around us, how sound is produced, transferred and receive. Music, on the other hand, teaches us to combine sounds and silence which are part of our daily lives," stated Bracho. He defined wave as a vibration that propagates outwards and indicated the characteristics: amplitude, length, frequency and period. He also referred to the types of waves, speed, dispersion, reflection and transmission.

Members of the theater groups in our branch campuses in Quito and Guayaquil reflected on humor in Ecuador during the forum "El sí y el no en la comedia". Gabriel Gallardo explained the differences between technical terms, stories such as humor, satire, parody and comedy. He also reflected on the situation of actors and actresses in the country. "Humor is a mirror that leads you to reflection through ridicule. It is mocking human errors," he said.

Juan Pablo Acosta, stressed the importance of knowing the theoretical and historical characteristics of comedy as a genre and the social and educational contribution that can be generated from art. "Making comedy is not denigrating or stereotyping," he stressed.
