Our branch campus in Cuenca presented the book “Don Bosco dialoga con las artes y las ciencias Volumen II”, written by Juan Cardenas Tapia, Fernando Pesantez Aviles and Angel Torres. The presentation was attended by university officials, professors, students and special guests.

Father Juan Cardenas, UPS president, presented the book and Fernando Pesantez, general vice president of the university, spoke about the content. Sofia Vasquez, a student, presented her perspective of the book; and Father Luis Angel Banegas, director of the pastoral department, made a comment on the book.

The book contains several dialogues that Don Bosco, a visionary educator of the 19th century, imaginatively has with some important people in sciences and arts such as: Paulo Freire, Alexander Graham Bell, Johann Pestalozzi, Socrates, Nikola Tesla, and others. These interactions blur the boundaries between philosophy, science and art, fostering an enriching conversation between disciplines.

The book invites readers to know the world from an imaginary dialogue with brilliant minds of history by raising different questions. It shows the influence of Don Bosco, which continues to have an impact on education, ethics and culture of our time, remembering the universality of his thought and his ability to cross temporal and disciplinary barriers.
