Ecuadorian athletes spoke about the importance of education

The communication and culture department in our branch campus in Guayaquil held the talk titled: “High Performance athletes. Contributions from academia”.

 

The talk was attended by prominent Ecuadorian athletes such as former soccer player Fricson George and pan American medal winner in sailing Anggie Avegno; they spoke about their experience and advised participants how to balance sports and academia. 

 

During the talk, Anggie Avegno spoke about the beginning of her career and gave important advice. “Sharing my experience was very enriching. If you want to do sports, there is no age limit. You can fulfull your dreams”. 

 

Fricson George spoke about the importance of academic preparation to complement a sports career: “It is a pleasure to talk to young students. It is good to talk about our experiences and the evolution of sport in Ecuador. The most important thing is to study and help develop the sport you do from new angles.”


The talk not only inspired participants to pursue their sporting dreams, but also stressed the relevance of education for overall success. The university is committed to training comprehensive professionals who can excel in any field.
