TED talks are "ideas worth spreading", the talks which last up to 20 minutes are on innovative ideas that are worth sharing to open new spaces for development and cooperation.

Fabian Bermeo, the organizer of the event, said there will be 10 international speakers and several Ecuadorian speakers as well, such as Juana Estrella, Manuel Vega and Johana González. The robots are UPS will open this diverse and multidisciplinary event.

In a press conference UPS President Javier Herran raised the question: what is a university? "We dream and believe what history has taught us, but if we review history, we realize the university had contradictory and different thoughts". He said that when universities like UPS look into societies they feel and see things differently because a university is not only in its campus or in its classrooms. "this is why a university cannot let events like these pass by, hence UPS supports TEDx Cuenca."
