UPS students visited the "Monteverde" LPG station

A group of Electronic Engineering students from UPS-Guayaquil were invited by the Vice President of Ecuador for a technical visit to the Station of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG ) "Monteverde " located between the provinces of Guayas and Santa Elena .
The aim of the visit was so students could have a close look at the implementation and development of various engineering applications in industrial processes and other technical systems implemented in the plant.
Students became familiar with the propane tanks , tanks of butane and areas that make up the system and LPG storage plant, as well as a 1,500 meter dam and maritime terminal which belong to the plant from which the gas is transferred through a pipeline of 123 km to Chorrillo , located in Tarqui and Pascuales in Guayaquil.
"Monteverde" includes the construction of the Maritime Terminal , the Gas Storage Plant in land located in (Santa Elena) where up to 60 000 cilinders of domestic gas are packed daily and the construction of the storage and distribution plant in El Chorrillo .
The station is responsible for the storage of gas, it guarantees the supply of domestic gas to the provinces of Santa Elena , Guayas , Manabi , Los Rios and Azuay ; reducing high costs of storage in vessels related to private and production sectors.
The use of industrial instrumentation, SCADA systems, and the application of programmable logic controllers, showed that what UPS students learn in their classrooms make them participants of optimal academic performance.
